Sumner, Washington is a small city of about 10,000 residents, located in Pierce County, approximately 30 miles south of Seattle and 15 miles east of Tacoma. The town has many businesses that call it home, from large corporations to small family stores, all this while maintaining a small town appeal. 
A new transit station for the rail and bus attracts many people to the revitalized downtown area, and the specialty shops and antique stores in the Main Street area keep them coming back. More restaurants and stores continue to come to downtown Sumner and the variety of options keep expanding.
Sumner has many parks and places for enjoyment by all including Heritage Park, which is in the festival area, Loyalty Park, Siebenthaler Park, East Side Park, Daffodil Valley Sports Complex and the Sumner Meadows Golf Course. Sumner also maintains the connection to its history with the Ryan House Museum in the heart of downtown and part of the Sumner Arts Festival.

The Sumner Downtown Association is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1973 by local preservationists, business leaders, political leaders and conscientious citizens dedicated to support, preserve, and revitalize the Historic Downtown area. 
 Sumner Downtown Association, also known as the SDA, is committed to sponsoring programs and activities that fulfill the following purposes: Historic Preservation, Community Education and lessening the Burden of Government.
